Carlotta Weakened after Ravaging Southern Mexico

Carlotta had slammed southern Mexico as of Friday the 15 of June (GMT). The hurricane then waned to a tropical depression over the mountains during the weekend.

Carlotta with the strength of a hurricane drenched Oaxaca State and brought down a house; so far two deaths have been reported. As of Saturday the 16th, the tropical depression was located about 50 miles north‐northeast of Acapulco and moving toward the northwest at about 12 mph. The storm was expected to affect the area for days while warnings and watches were discontinued.
