China Issued Alert for Heavy Rain in Southern Regions
In May 13, 2014, China's meteorological authority has issued an alert for heavy rain in some southern regions. It says in within the next 24 hours, heavy rain or storms will hit some parts in the provinces of Guizhou, Hunan, Hubei, Jiangxi, Anhui and Zhejiang, as well as Tibet Autonomous Region and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Torrential rain of 100 to 130 millimeters will be seen in some northeastern parts of Jiangxi. Southern China saw heavy rainfall over the weekend, causing the deaths of three people and affecting another 1.2 million. In south China’s Shenzhen City, the rain was the heaviest in 6 years. More than 4,600 people were relocated. While in neighbouring Guangxi, more than 80,000 people were relocated. It also damaged nearly two thousand farm houses.
