A 6.7‐magnitude earthquake struck the coast of Negros and caused 48 deaths
according to the state‐run Philippine News Agency (PNA). But the agency later
reported that the army had reduced the confirmed dead to a total of 22, which was
revised again to 26 with another 71 missing by the National Disaster Risk Reduction
and Management Council a day after. The quake caused damage to numerous
buildings and triggered landslides. The central Philippines hit by the quake continued
to undergo aftershocks by Wednesday, two days after.
