Ernesto Reaches Hurricane Strength While Passing through Central America

Tropical storm Ernesto reached hurricane strength while passing through northern
Honduras and kept moving along the eastern coast of Central America towards
Yucantan Peninsula. A hurricane warning has been released along the coast of Belize
and parts of the Yucatan Peninsula; and a tropical warning has also been released in
Honduras and the remaining parts of east Yucatan Peninsula. At least 1500 people
were evacuated from Nicaragua’s coastal areas and its border with Honduras.
