Swollen water of the Souris River has urged the authority to order evacuation of
approximately 12,000 residents in the city of Minot, North Dakota, and nearby areas
that may be affected. The swelling water can be attributed to heavy area rains and
dam releases. By Wednesday the 22nd, evacuation in the affected areas should be
completed. The river at Minot currently standing at 1,555 feet above sea level is
forecast to rise to a record breaking height by the weekend.
