The heat wave with triple-digit temperature has remained since June, affecting several
regions in eastern and central US. Records were set in 41 cities and towns from North
Carolina to Maine although it has cooled off since the occurrence of the highest
temperature over the weekend of July 23.
Heat-related deaths have gone over 20 so far while excessive heat warnings and
advisories have been in effect for much of the central US.
