Hurricane Odile hit Mexico's Baja California peninsula on Sunday, September 14. The storm, packing 65 mph winds, lashed the region with torrential rains and the potential for flash flooding, according to the National Hurricane Center.

Although the storm has eased since Sunday from category four to one , it still packed winds of up to 160km/h (100 mph). Mexican authorities have prepared shelter for about 30,000 people. They are warning that since the storm moves northwest, there might be more landslides and floods in the next few days.
