A landslide triggered by torrential downpours occurred in a village in central Indonesia on Friday, December 12, 2014. The landslide swept away 105 houses, according to a spokesman for the National Disaster Mitigation Agency.

The landslide engulfed houses. About 2000 rescuers dug through the mud and wreckage with their bare hands, shovels and hoes. On Monday, December 15, there were 70 people who were still unaccounted for. The death toll was 39.
