Indonesia Volcanic Eruption Rouses Alert

Mt. Lokon in the northern Sulawesi province of Indonesia has erupted several times
since the first burst last Thursday, July 14. Although the smoke was estimated to reach
the height at which the nearby flights may be affected, there was no immediate report
of casualties. Up to Sunday the 17th, the number of evacuees climbed to over 5,200.
