Japanese Landslides Struck Hiroshima Prefecture

After the equivalent of a month's rain fell in the 24 hours up to Wednesday morning, the landslide occurred on August 20, 2014. It happened in the Hiroshima city outskirts near a mountain area.

Several houses were buried in mud. The rescue teams hurried to work their way to houses. About 3,000 rescue personnel tried to remove mud, rocks and debris. The torrential rains made the evacuation up to 100,000 people. As of 13 November, the death toll was 74. 44 were injured
