Gas explosions occurred in Kaohsiung on July 31, 2014. The explosions happened on Yisin Road, Ersheng Road, Sanduo Road and Guanghua Road at 23:59. The blast destroyed houses, cars, and even caused a blackout to a local power grid. The death toll was 32. 308 people were wounded.

Kaohsiung City Government set up Emergency Operation Center and operated 8 shelters for 1,152 people. Kaohsiung citizens who live in the Qianzhen District or Lingya District, if their houses were damaged, and were confirmed having financial difficulties by the district offices, each person could receive $866USD from Kaohsiung City Government.
