Slow-moving Tropical Storm Causes Casualties in the Philippines

Tropical Storm Juaning made landfall along northern Aurora Province in the
Philippines and continued to drag through the northern parts of the island at about 10
mph, Wednesday the 27th. The storm has caused 27 deaths and over 60 people missing.
Several villages have been inundated and fishing boats swept away by huge waves
along the coastal areas.
According to a government disaster response agency, the storm is expected to cross
into parts of the Northern Luzon Island and bring widespread rain until the end of the
week.
The government disaster response agency has issued alarms of landslide and floods
for residents in low-laying and mountainous regions; meanwhile, the coastal areas
have also been warned about deadly waves and storm surges.
