Torrential Rain Triggered Landslides and Flooding in Southwestern Japan

Heavy rains in Southern Japan sent landslides and floods through Kumamoto and Nagasaki, on the southern island of Kyushu in southwestern Japan on Thursday, June 11 2015, almost 380 000 people were advised to evacuate. Evacuations were ordered in Kumamoto after 23 centimeters (nine inches) of rain fell in one day while nearby Nagasaki had 31 centimeters over the same period.

Official said no reports of injuries were received.
