Huge Mudslide Struck Washington
A major mudslide occurred in the morning on Saturday, March 22, 2014, 4 miles east of Oso, Washington, United States. A portion of an unstable hill collapsed, sending mud and debris across the North Fork of the Stillaguamish River, engulfing a rural neighborhood, and covering and area of approximately 1 square mile. More than 30 homes were destroyed and more than half the town of Oso is missing. The slide had killed 42 people; one more remains missing.
