A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 6.3 hit Taiwan's eastern coast with four large aftershocks on April 20, killing one person and damaging infrastructure and private properties.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no threat of a tsunami after the quake, which had been measured at 6.3 by Taiwan's Central Weather Bureau.

The earthquake was caused as the Philippine Plate subducted north into the Eurasian Plate. It was the third earthquake this year with a magnitude of more than 6.
