A massive storm has hammered New South Wales in Australia on April 22 with damaging winds and destructive flooding that washed away houses and brought down trees onto streets and buildings. Residents have been urged to evacuate. The storm system also brought destructive flooding. The powerful storm has claimed four lives, according to New South Wales Police. All four deaths were elderly people trapped in their homes by quickly rising flood waters. Homes were swept away as over 12 inches (312 millimeters) of rain in just 24 hours swamped the town of about 2,100 residents 135 miles north of Sydney, according to the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BoM).
