On September 17, a tropical depression, upgraded into a tropical depression by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA), moved into the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR). On September 18, JMA classified it as a tropical storm named Fung-Wong.
Fung-Wong caused serious flooding in Visayas region, one of the three principal geographical divisions of the Philippines. According to the last update, September 30, by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC), damaged houses were 11,591. 18 individuals were dead. 16 were injured. 4 were missing.
